Introduction

Unlike traditional conference formats, our BarCamp has a self-organizing character, relying on the passion and the responsibility of the participants. In order to give us a little more structure than in a ‘pure’ BarCamp setting, the agenda contains eight session blocks of 45 minutes each that we can use to discuss and collaborate on topics of interest to us. What sessions we actually hold in these blocks and who goes to which sessions is up to you as participants, and will evolve as the agenda goes along!

Suggestion sessions you would like to host

For optimal preparation we kindly ask each one of you to provide input on at least one session that you would like to host or co-host.

How to contribute a session and its description that you would like to host …

  1. If the topic or session you would like to propose was already suggested by someone else, get in touch with that person: For instance, you can offer to co-host the session and prepare it together. Get in touch and start to collaborate on the session page. Getting in touch can be by direct message, using the profile info of that person, comment feature on the page – whatever you feel comfortable with.
  2. Select one session page template – pick a session page template in the current list of session pages in the Docs section of the BarCamp Sessions Group that has not yet been filled out by somebody else. You can recognize the available template by their title like ‘Session Page Template x (rename with a new title)’
  3. Edit the selected session template – Click the Edit button at the top of a page to edit an existing session page template.
  4. Rename the title of a session page template – Use a catchy name for your session.
  5. Provide input – Describe your session based on the structure that we proposed. The structure is explained in the template. Just overwrite the information with your own input.
  6. Save your session page – Click Save button to publish your contribution.
  7. Engage in dialog about your session topic – If you are ‘watching’ the page, you will receive E-Mail notifications about comments on the page from others.

Current list of session of pages

Remember: Hosting a session does not mean that you have to hold a perfectly formatted presentation or scripted workshop. A session can also be not just a presentation, but also an open dialogue, workshop or demonstration. You can host sessions in which you are still seeking more answers than you can give; or are still even wondering about the right questions. The first entry in the linked list above is an example of a session that Robert would like to offer. We ourselves from our Berlin team will also keep adding more session offers, just like you.

If any of our descriptions on this page is not quite understandable enough for you, please comment at the bottom of this page. This will give us hints how to improve. Thank you!

After contributing your own session suggestions …

Comments

Use the comment feature of Confluence to drive discussion on a session before and after the event.

Indicate what session you would like to participate in

Use the like button on the bottom of a session page if you are interested to participate in the session. This is not binding but will give us all an overview which sessions to move into the first session blocks of the agenda.
